We found that we had gone back to the time of the English Civil War.
There were Cavaliers in Kings Square, marching, drumming and firing guns
They were camping in Brunswick Square
There is an Elizabethan Room above Santander Bank, from when the house was rebuilt in 1534. It was restored in 1890
Above Costa Coffee is a restaurant with this enormous stone fireplace which commemorates a marriage in 1650
When we got to the Park, there was battle going on, with bodies on the ground – we had heard it from the centre of the city – the cannon were LOUD
