A visit to St Bartholomews Church with GSIA

The church is on the top of Chosen Hill, with the Sexton’s cottage below it. It is within an iron age hill fort. It was founded in the 12th century, with later additions and renovations, and was the only church for the village below it until 1904 – it is a steep climb up

The view is great – you can see for miles

The porch has a room above. This tower was added in 1601. During the English Civil War, royalist soldiers stayed in the church

Pulpit 1631. Font 14th century

Some stones seem to have been reused from an earlier building

There is an unusual priest’s room above the north porch
