It was too windy to walk on Highdown Hill, but it was sheltered in these lovely gardens.

These are unusual gardens, containing a national collection of rare plants. The first garden was made in 1909 from an old chalk pit

Wisteria arch

We saw a lot of blossom

and tulips

Handkerchief tree

The cave used to be a lime kiln

The pond has huge fish
