June 2017      Lenno to Argegno    Map of walk         4.9 miles

The Greenway‘ is a trail down part of the west side of Lake Como, which passes through Lenno, where we were staying. We walked south from Lenno along the trail to Colonno, then on to Argegno

We passed Villa del Balbiano

14th century bell tower of Church of Santa Maria Maddalena, Ossuccio

Isola Comacina

The village in the gap is where we are going

Church of Santi Giacomo e Filippo, Ossuccio, dates from the 12th century and has very old frescoes

Sala Comacina

Looking back to Lenno and the island – Isola Comacina

Colonno

At the end of The Greenway, we found a waterfall

Argegno

There is a cable car that goes from behind the church up to the top, where there is the village of Pigra at 881m above sea level

Under the porch of the church

In the church

Shame the view from the top of the cable car wasn’t clearer

From the belvedere we could see Lenno, our house, and the villa on the end of the peninsula

We walked around the old village of Pigra, at the top of the cable car

Old wash house

Back down in Argegno

We took a boat back to Lenno, which called at the village opposite Lenno

Next – Saronno
