We travelled by train from Stroud via Cologne and Munich to Jenbach, where we took a bus to Maurach

We stayed here, near the village centre and shops, bus and steam train stops and cable car staiton

The view from the balcony when we arrived

On the opposite side of the road was a school and a farm with horses

behind the house was the cable car going up and down the mountain

Achenkirche at the other end of the lake – we went by tourist boat

First we walked to a waterfall

Sixenhof Museum at Achenkirche

It was a 14th century farmhouse with all the land and forest around it. It was rebuilt in 1810 after a fire

The front of the farmhouse has the living quarters

Farmer’s bedroom and carpenter’s workshop

Sunday best

The back of the farmhouse as set out as a museum

Blacksmith’s workshop and dairy

In the barn is a replica hut that the forestry workers used

Cobbler’s workshop

Gaisalm to Pertisau walk

We saw the route from the boat on the way to Achenkirche and it looked OK

Another day we took the boat to the Gaisalm hut – the only route as there is no road – and walked back to Pertisau

Jenbach in the Inn valley 16th June 2026
