While it has lost its historic centre due to war and floods, Latisana makes a good base for a holiday.

It has

  • a main railway station (trains east towards Trieste and west to Venice)
  • bus station (south to Bibione and Lignano, north to Udine)
  • supermarkets (Lidl, Coop, Eurospar)

Lignano

This is a modern holiday resort, with miles of golden sand (private beaches)

We stayed on until the last stop by the Tourist Office and explored Punta Faro
